This project was developed as part of a public architectural competition for the redesign of Eleftherias Square in Kavala. Created in collaboration with Locus 3 Architectural Office, the proposal was awarded. The proposal reimagines the coastal edge of Kavala as a fluid public landscape where the city reconnects with the sea. Curved pathways, water elements, and layered green zones create a continuous waterfront experience that encourages movement, interaction, and moments of pause. Rather than defining a rigid boundary between land and water, the design allows the natural element of the sea to penetrate the public space, shaping a more dynamic and immersive coastal environment. The park is organized into three interconnected zones dedicated to wellness, culture, and social interaction. Sports areas, gardens, public gathering spaces, floating piers, and cultural interventions are woven together through a soft, flowing geometry that contrasts with the rigidity of the surrounding urban fabric. The result is a contemporary Mediterranean public landscape that prioritizes sustainability, accessibility, ecological integration, and the everyday experience of the visitor—transforming the waterfront into a vibrant civic destination for the city of Kavala.
