A sculptural composition of stone and light, Horizon House reimagines Cycladic tradition through a contemporary lens. Positioned along a gentle slope, the residence unfolds as a series of interlocking forms that follow the natural topography. “Horizon” is a thoughtful response to the rugged beauty of Mykonos. Rooted in the island’s architectural heritage, it interprets Cycladic principles through contemporary forms and restrained materiality. The structure blends into the slope, allowing the natural landscape to lead the design.
Developed in collaboration with the architectural studio K-S Project, under the direction of Konstantina Sygkyridi, the project reflects a sensitive approach to site, light, and structure. Our studio contributed both to the architectural design and the visualizations that brought the concept to life.
Stone walls, hand-laid with precision, frame the building’s core, giving it mass and grounding it in the terrain. These heavier elements contrast with smooth, whitewashed volumes that rise above them, offering moments of brightness and visual relief. Together, they create a dialogue between weight and lightness, tradition and innovation.
Natural materials dominate the palette: local stone, lime plaster, timber. This combination of textures and tones grounds the home in its setting and fosters a sense of quiet tactility throughout. Openings are carefully placed to frame views, invite ventilation, and allow light to sculpt the interiors across the day.
The pool extends from the main terrace, reflecting the geometry of the house and the stillness of the landscape. It anchors the outdoor experience, offering a serene visual counterpoint to the surrounding stone and sky.
